In 2010, telephone traffic through fixed networks sited at 66,879 million minutes, following the downward trend that started in 2002, and recording a year-on-year decrease of 3.8%. This was mainly caused by a decrease in Internet access calls that were reduced by 56% due to the expansion of broadband. The percentage of Internet access calls out of the total traffic dropped from 40.4% in 2002 to 1.7% en 2010.

The evolution of the different types of telephone traffic through fixed networks was affected by the economic context: international traffic experienced a drop of 14.1% in 2010, while mobile traffic dropped by 7.5%. On the contrary, national traffic rose by 0.5%.
