In the period 2005-2010, employment grew by 3.21% with respect to 2005. Information Technology and Content, with an increase of 7%, recorded the best results.
High-tech activities related to knowledge and innovation, such as those related to databases, computer program publishing and general consulting, generated significant growth in productivity in these segments. ICT services, like Trade and Other Telecommunication Activities, found it difficult to reduce its labour needs per product unit, although this did not affect the quantity or quality of its production.
In 2010, the ICT sector employed over 459,100 people, 1.5% less than in 2009.
Information Technology and Content enterprises generated the most employment, with 83% of the total, which represents a decrease of 1.20% compared to 2009. Telecommunications services accounted for 17% of total employment in the sector, representing 2.8% of the total.
