In 2011, for the first time in the last years, the equipment most used in households for connecting to the Internet was laptop computers (67.2% of the households). They recorded an increase of 6.1 percentage points on the previous year.
Laptops were closely followed by desktop computers (with 66.8%, only 4 percentage points behind) that continue the downward trend started in 2003.
21.6% of Internet users accessed the Internet via mobile telephone. Regarding PDAs or Pocket PCs, the percentage of Internet users using these devices rose from 6.6 in 2010 to 6.5 in 2011. Also worth noting was the decrease in the connection via videoconsole, which fell from 13.8% in 2010 to 12.6% in 2011.

Households, expressed as a percentage of the total, that have Internet access, broken down by type of access equipment or terminal: desktop computers (PCs), laptops, other computers (PDAs, Pocket PCs), mobile telephones and other connection means. Some percentages can have duplications due to the existence of households that access to the Internet by various means.
Study based on telephone and personal interviews. The theoretical sample size comprises 24,972 houses and 3,922 reserves. Therefore 28,894 houses have been visited. One person aged 15 years old or over is selected from each house; likewise, information is obtained on all children aged 10 to 15 years old residing in the family home. For 2002 and 2003, data refers to Spanish population aged 15 or over. From 2003 onwards, data refers toSpanish population aged 16-74. It corresponds to an eEurope 2005 indicator (complimentary statistical indicator) and is partially related to the i2010 indicator “percentage of individuals accessing the Internet via mobile telephone or laptop”.
